Description
Baphi is one of the main protagonists of Asriel’s College Life. She is a sophomore and Human-Monster History major at Ebott College who lives with Asriel Dreemurr as his roommate. The two live in Middle Campus Unit 2B as sophomores, and previously lived in Lower Campus Unit 1C as freshmen.
1.1. Appearance
Baphi is a goat-like monster with dark grey fur, long ears, a snout, and a pair of sharp, grey horns. She has yellow-colored eyes, usually covered by the large tuft of fur on her forehead. She wears a white tank top underneath a red and white Ebott College varsity jacket, as well as a pair of black sweatpants. Like Asriel, Baphi walks barefoot, and has a short puffy tail.
1.2. Personality
Baphi is known for her sarcastic and carefree attitude, showing little reverence for most people she meets. As a self-proclaimed "serial prankster", she pulls various pranks on Asriel ranging from harmless to mild inconveniences, such as hiding his alarm clock or putting salt in his coffee ("EPISODE"). While these pranks are primarily for fun and to cure boredom, they also serve as a defense mechanism and a misguided attempt to ‘toughen up’ Asriel for the real world ("EPISODE"). She also practices petty theft and eavesdropping, stealing small objects like pens for a collection and taking notes about conversations she isn't a part of. When confronted, Baphi will justify herself as "having fun" or "curing boredom”, otherwise being unable to articulate her true motivations ("EPISODE").
Baphi also likes seeking out new experiences and thrills wherever she leaves the dorm, having promised to herself to "try everything" while she's enrolled in Ebott College ("EPISODE"). Beer is her favorite choice of alcohol at parties, which she often tries sneaking into without being invited. However, she expresses a firm refusal to try smoking or drugs, and is capable of standing up to peer pressure to avoid wanting to use them ("EPISODE"). "EPISODE" reveals that she has a sweet tooth and loves to drink hot chocolate, on top of keeping candy bars in her jacket pockets to eat whenever she feels bored.
Baphi finds it difficult to trust others, having no friends or acquaintances (other from Clyde) since leaving [TOWN] and meeting Asriel. When she started living with him, she felt like that Asriel's kindness was transactional and that he was ‘too nice’ for the world ("EPISODE"). She admits to him in "EPISODE" that she feels guilty over her poor reputation among her peers due to her attitude and pranks, but commits to her behavior anyway out of a belief that being a delinquent is 'part of who she is', and that she's 'too far gone to go back'. While Baphi has no issues talking to people in and of itself, she finds making friends 'too difficult' due to her aforementioned beliefs and reputation, which leads her to avoid trying at all ("EPISODE"). On the other hand, she expresses discomfort over reconciling her delinquent identity with her genuine passion for her major and with Asriel’s kindness with her (“EPISODE”)
